Vienna
The capital of Austria, located in the heart of Europe, is not only famous
for its cultural highlights of the past, but also for its present.
Many famous musicians like Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Mahler, Schubert,
Schönberg or the Strauß family were tightly connected to Vienna.
The Viennese Waltz is well known by most inhabitants of Vienna, and since
the ADFT 2001 is just in the ball season, there might be possibilities for
the participants to practise their ballroom dancing abilities.
Vienna is the city of the Habsburgs, including Sissi and Franz Josef, of
Freud and of the Lipizzaners. It is the city of Erwin Schrödinger and of
Wolfgang Pauli, and famous scientists of today like Walter Kohn were born
in Vienna.
Vienna hosts several hundred museums, many of them featuring famous artists
like Klimt and Schiele, others dedicated to Vampires, or Teddy bears, and
there is also a Pathologic-Anatomical Museum.
Every evening there are concerts and performances, operas and musicals in
the Vienna state opera, the Konzerthaus, the Musik-verein, the
Künstlerhaus, many theaters, and other places.
It is easy to spend many days full of new impressions in Vienna.
